Niigata’s responsibility, as one of the companies in the IHI Group, is to
provide safe, reliable and durable four-cycle diesel engines for the marine
industry internationally. Niigata’s engines connect easily with other Niigata
propulsion and generation technologies. After-sales service is provided to
Niigata customers through an extensive world-wide service network of long-term
partners, that provide after-sales service, spare parts and trouble shooting
advice on Niigata machines.
Medium Speed

A challenge for Diesel Engine manufacturers is how to achieve a high standard of
emissions control while at the same time maintaining a highly efficient output.
International Maritime Organization (IMO) has introduced new higher standards
for emission control on diesel engines at ships constructed on or after 1st
January 2011. NIIGATA marine diesel engines have reduced NOx contents in exhaust
gas to meet NOx emission limit specified by Tire II and will be delivered to the
customers with the third party certificates.
Research & Development will be developed on involving subsidiary component, like
reactor system in order to fulfill NOx limit to be seen at other future
regulation as expressed Tire III as the next target.

Historically, Niigata started out designing in-house diesel engines. Niigata
machinery finds applications in the marine industry on fishing boats, commercial
vessels, tugs and off-shore operations which require reliable and durable
technology which performs well and with low maintenance costs.
Niigata values feedback from our customers which has helped Niigata produce a
range of diesel marine engines. For example, Niigata engines set at a slightly
lower engine combustion ratio than other comparable engines. This reduces a much
longer life cycle of its marine diesel engines.

Niigata engines are a originally designed unique propulsion diesel engine in
that under conditions of variable loads they have a rapid response to variations
in the load. They are also mechanically robust backed up by Niigata’s commitment
to improve the combustion efficiency at all stages of operation. Niigata has
concentrated its pulse turbo charged system in order to reduce black smoke
emissions from its engines at any operation stage. Ongoing research and
development is the way that Niigata seeks to produce greater mechanical
efficiency implementing emissions controls while also saving costs and reducing
down-times over the life-time of the engines.
